HACA as a community resource

The Hamilton and Area Curling Association (HACA) is a regional sports body incorporated in November 1992 as a non-profit organization. Founding members are eight area curling clubs and four district bonspiel committees.

The volunteer board of directors is committed to development of curling to its full potential in Hamilton and area.

HACA offers itself as a resource for curling information and activity of interest to curlers, prospective curlers, media and all who wish to relate to the sport of curling.

Curling is an Olympic medal sport, and continues to offer Fun, Fitness and Friendship for all ages.

HACA's aims are:

  • To represent members on matters of common interest and to provide a forum for information sharing among members.
  • To provide encouragement to non-curlers to pursue the game as a recreation of choice.
  • To co-ordinate and administer Hamilton and district, provincial or national programs on behalf of its members for the good of the curling community as required.
  • To support aims and objectives of its member clubs, the Canadian Curling Association and the Ontario Curling Association with regard to programs, policy and competitions.

Support for Youth Curling

HACA supports youth activity at area curling clubs, such as the annual Harry Clark Memorial Little Rock Bonspiel for children aged up to twelve, and starting in 2009 is the overseeing body for "The 64s" Bantam recreational league. HACA will arrange opportunities for high school students to participate at area clubs if required.
